The 11th Sterilization and Infection Control Congress was held from 19 up to 20 December 2023, from 8 AM to 6 PM, at the Razi International Conference Hall by Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences.
This congress aimed to integrate and coordinate all related and active institutions and organizations involved in infection control and sterilization to create a national determination.
In this way, the congress discussed and analyzed the latest achievements in the field of infection control and sterilization, medical materials, and equipment by experts and specialists.
At the opening ceremony of the congress, 239 articles and 173 posters were received. Among these, 51 papers were presented in Hall 1, 9 workshops, and 2 panel discussions featuring papers were held in Hall 2.
The Infection Control Congress was held with the registration of 1,800 participants and attracted over 2,500 visitors. The congress exhibition featured 29 medical equipment companies presenting infection control and sterilization products.

Dr. Zali, the president of the congress and Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, stated during the opening ceremony on Wednesday, December 19th: “70% of hospital-acquired infections can be prevented through simple healthcare interventions, significantly reducing the financial cost caused by hospital-acquired infections.”
He emphasized the necessity of establishing a national healthcare system for the continuous surveillance of hospital-acquired infections and considered the improvement, development, and assessment of the national infection control system as the clear message of this congress.
Furthermore, Dr. Mohammad Zeineli, the head of the Department of Water and Foodborne Diseases and Antimicrobial Resistance at the Ministry of Health’s Disease Control Center, remarked, “Infections resulting from healthcare services are a serious global issue.”
He added that effective infection prevention and control programs can reduce hospital-acquired infections by up to 30%.
The booth of Abadis Med Co, a knowledge-based company, attracted significant attention and visits from various participants, including university professors, medical equipment associations, hospital infection control authorities, physicians, nurses, medical equipment specialists, and healthcare environment experts.





On the first day of the congress, dated December 19, 2023, Mr. Abshari, the director of Kasra Hospital, Ms. Ismaili, the country’s distinguished nurse, Mr. Engineer Tabatabaei, the executive director of the congress, and other prominent professors in the field of infection control visited the Abadis booth.


On the second day of the congress, Thursday, December 20, 1402, Dr. Saeedlou, the president of the association, Ms. Qasemi, the secretary of the Association of Medical Equipment Manufacturers and Exporters (AMEDAL), Dr. Masoumi, a faculty member of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, and Dr. Qasri visited the Abadis booth. They engaged in discussions with Abadis managers.



The 11th Infection Control Congress was held on the last days of autumn and close to Yalda night gave gifts to participants of this congress.

In the closing ceremony, the presenter, Dr. Keyvaniyan, emotionally recited Hafez’s poetry, captivating the audience in Razi Hall 1.

The closing ceremony of the 11th Infection Control Congress was held in the main hall of Razi Conferences Centers, with the presence of paper judges and senior managers of Abadis Med Co. The ceremony included a raffle draw, during which Abadis presented prizes to six lucky attendees. In this ceremony, 6 lucky visitors became the winners of this Raffle.
