Definition of Nosocomial Infections and Their Types<\/h2>\n<\/header>\n

What is an infection? From the beginning of creation, human beings have always been finding ways to protect themselves against natural factors such as cold, heat and many pathogens and infectious agents, and their goal has been the survival of their generation.<\/p>\n

The literal definition of infection refers to the decay or reversal of taste; But due to its wide dimensions, we will mention some specialized definitions.<\/p>\n

1- Disruption of vital signs, including temperature and change in the number of blood cells and disturbance of the body\u2019s natural balance, by pathogenic organisms<\/p>\n

2- Deployment of various pathogens including bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites in different parts of the host body<\/p>\n

As a result, the infection occurs when the pathogen enters the host body and stimulates the immune system, disrupting the body\u2019s normal functioning.
\nIt should be noted that the acute state of the disease occurs when the invasive agent can remain actively and alive outside the immune system. But if it enters the immune system and chooses a point in the host body to accumulate in order to resist its destruction, we will see a chronic state of the disease.<\/p>\n

Therefore, in case of an infection, not only the presence of the disease in the human being and the reduction of the general resistance of his body is necessary, but also the invading microbe must have sufficient pathogenic power. To be able to provide suitable and favorable conditions for diseases.
\nOur body is equipped with barriers and strong defense systems to defend against infectious agents or microorganisms<\/a> (the most important of which are: viruses, bacteria, rickettsiae, fungi and parasites). Be.<\/p>\n

Pathogens choose one of the following ways to enter our body:<\/h3>\n

1- Skin: Due to having a special pH, fatty acids and lysoriums are the first and strongest defense barrier of the body.
\n2- Mucosal surfaces: The stomach performs a defensive action with changes in pH and upper respiratory tract with continuous movements of the eyelashes and a special combination of salivary secretions and various ducts of the body.
\n3- Immune system: Various functions of the immune system outside the body to prevent infectious agents play their role well. But outside the body there are many pathogens that may enter the body and cause disease if any of the body\u2019s defense mechanisms are disrupted.<\/p>\n

Nosocomial Infections<\/h3>\n

Socrates wrote many years ago in a book about obstetric infections and the causes of their spread. But the widespread and accurate knowledge of various types of infections in recent decades is due to the construction of special sanatoriums and hospitals for deadly diseases such as tuberculosis, smallpox, plague and leprosy.<\/p>\n

Nosocomial infection refers to an infection that the patient did not have at the time of admission and occurs 48 to 72 hours after admission to the hospital, provided that it was not during the incubation period.
\nNosocomial infections are a serious problem in health care centers and impose high costs on patients and health care providers every year. At present, the rate of these infections in developed countries is about 10% of hospitalizations and in developing countries is estimated at about 25%.<\/p>\n

Discharged patients are included in the group of patients with nosocomial infections when:<\/h3>\n

A) 7 to 10 days after the discharge of the patient who was hospitalized due to internal reasons and no special surgery was performed on him.<\/p>\n

B) Up to 30 days after discharge due to surgery, if the implant has not been implanted for the patient. Such as: laparotomy, appendectomy and hernia.<\/p>\n

C) up to one year after surgery for the implant patient. As orthopedic surgeries in which screws, pins, plates and. Are implanted in the patient\u2019s body.<\/p>\n

There are generally three groups of people at risk for nosocomial infections:<\/h3>\n

1- The sick person
\n2- Medical system staff
\n3- People of the society<\/p>\n

Each organ of the human body can be infected with nosocomial infections, but in the meantime, urinary tract infections are in the first place with a share of 42%. After urinary tract infections, surgical wound infections with 24%, circulatory infections with 5 to 10%, lower extremity infections with 11% and pneumonia infections with 15% are the most common types of nosocomial infections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
